Pendleton | The Dude Shawl Cardigan | $188
This has been all over the various style blogs to which I subscribe over the past few days… A cardigan inspired by The Dude. But I say we take a look at it on its own merits. After all, how many people do you think are going to pick up on the reference? You could probably pair this with some plaid shorts and walk around with a White Russian in one hand and a roach in the other, and, unless it was Halloween, no one would think anything of it.
That said, this is a pretty handsome sweater. It certainly looks good on this dude (as in “a dude” not “The Dude”). But most of us probably don’t look like this dude—I, for one, am much more handsome. I really do think this would make a solid addition to any gentleman’s fall wardrobe, and since it’s made by Pendleton, it will likely last for years and years. Definitely worth a second look, in my opinion. (The first look was for the novelty value.)
Albam | Irwin Shawl Collar Cardigan | ~$250
Are you allowed to wear sweaters/jackets/anything with leather elbow patches if you are under 60 years of age? I really hope so, because this shawl collar cardigan (click through to see the front) is almost too clean to pass up. Almost… If only I had $250 just lying around…
uniform experiment x John Smedley | Crew Neck Sweater | $400
I like to see this, because I think it means crew necks are making a comeback, at least in the sweater arena. I always feel like a doofus when I wear a t-shirt underneath a V-neck sweater, but (1) I don’t like wearing collared shirts on an everyday basis and (2) I can’t find a nice, slim crew neck anywhere. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
