Parker Ito | The Most Infamous Girl in the History of the Internet
If you’ve ever mistyped a URL, then you know this girl, a virtual stock photography celebrity. The artist, Parker Ito, isn’t the artist in the sense that he put brush to canvas for this piece, but he’s the artist in a much more “high-concept” way… He claims to have plans to commission paintings of “The Most Infamous Girl in the History of the Internet” by 100 different painters (mostly from Asia) on Etsy and/or eBay. Sounds like it would make for a very interesting exhibition, having all 100 paintings in a gallery space at once… I like it.

One thing about art on the internet is that sometimes it can be difficult to identify the medium (even more so than on the printed page, I’d say). Take this painting for example… I thought for sure it was some sort of molded plastic sculpture, but, alas, I was tricked! Does this mean (A) I’m an idiot, (B) the artist is exceptionally talented at creating depth, or (C) both?

If your first thought was that this painting reminds you a lot of those ones in Eli’s apartment in The Royal Tenenbaums, well, Jeff Hamada over at BOOOOOOM! had that thought too. (By the way, those paintings are by Miguel Calderon.)
