Hollow Book Safe with Flask | $50
If you don’t work at a job where having a fully-stocked office bar is acceptable, the first thing you should do is think about getting a new job. The second thing you should do is buy this book safe built to conceal a 4 oz. flask. And the third thing you should do is buy something to fill the flask with.
Jane Hornby | What to Cook and How to Cook It
I have no idea if this cookbook is any good. I don’t even know the criteria by which one judges the goodness of a cookbook. But I do know that its cover is fun and interesting, and—fortunately for you, reader—I judge books by their covers all the time, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
Robert Cameron | The Drinking Man’s Diet | $5
Just read about this on Forbes.com, even though the article was from 2004. (I came across the link on Reddit.) It’s like the Atkin’s diet, but with booze. Enough said.
Donald Trump | The Art of the Deal | $8
This book wasn’t what I expected, but I liked it nonetheless. What I expected, based upon the title, was a book that would teach me how to be a big ballin’ deal maker. That’s reasonable, right? I mean, if I read The Art of War I would expect to learn a thing or two about effective strategy.
Well, this book consists of one chapter of pithy and clichéd tips and a dozen more about how he succeeded through luck and timing. Maybe the tips were fresh in 1987, but I doubt it, considering they consist of maxims like “Think Big,” “Know Your Market,” and “Have Fun.”
The bottom line is that this is a book you should read for entertainment and not knowledge, but it is indeed very entertaining… Especially when he spends pages and pages ranting about the incompetence of Ed Koch and other New York city officials.
