Tascam | iM2 Stereo Microphone | $80
This looks like a pretty awesome little accessory. The only issue I can imagine, though, is that if you’re shooting video in landscape (which you should be, because shooting video in portrait is incredibly obnoxious), the stereo capabilities would be more or less nullified.
Rapha | Leather Town Gloves | $170
Just a couple days after Gilt MANual posted an article on the merits of a nice pair of leather gloves, these beauties show up on Acquire. Needless to say, I’ve added these to my Amazon Wish List for Christmas 2011.
Filson | Cover Cloth Umbrella | $100
Buying a big, expensive walker umbrella is a highly credited play. Why’s that? Because, if you’re anything like me, you’re about a tenth as likely to lose it as you are a compact, collapsible umbrella.
The last time I purchased an umbrella was an incredible two years ago. It was this number from Brooks Brothers ($70), and it’s served me well. Prior to that, I would buy a cheap umbrella at CVS, use it once, and leave it sitting on the floor of a cab or hanging on the back of a barstool. If I did that every time it rained in Philadelphia, I would have spent two or three times as much by now.
BOTTOM LINE: Look fresh, get compliments, save money. Buy a well-made stick umbrella. Oh, and don’t go any larger than 50 inches in diameter. If you walk around the city with a 60 inch golf umbrella, you are an asshole.
LunaTik Red | $80
This is a “premium conversion kit” that lets you turn an iPod Nano into a wristwatch. I think it is pretty awesome.
It comes in red, white, and black, and there is also a less-permanent and less-expensive model called the TikTok ($40) that lets you pop the iPod in and out. (This one uses screws and is intended for people who want to use their Nano primarily as a watch… And I think it looks cleaner.)
Unit Portables | Unit 01–03
Not so sure about these… They look pretty fresh for laptop bags, but when I think about how they would look in use, the vision I have is rather purse-like. And on the flip side, I think the military influence may be a little too strong for the ladies. So yeah… Definitely something I’d need to see in person before making a purchasing decision.
Steve & Co. | Natostrap | ~$26
Do you sometimes get bored with the stock bracelet that came with your favorite Rolex? I know I do. Now instead of moping about it, you can head on over to Steve & Co. and pick up a new one for just €19. I’m sure shipping from the eurozone can be a bit expensive, so it’s fortunate that they also make scarves, belts, and bow ties of exceeding freshness… That way, you can buy a bunch of stuff and justify it to yourself by saying that you’re saving on shipping. Smart thinking.
Out of Print | iPhone Cases | $35
If using an iPhone 4 just doesn’t make you feel good enough—or, rather, better-than-everyone-else enough—now you can show the world that you are a consumer of sophisticated technology and classic novels at the same time! Though if that’s really your goal, you probably shouldn’t go with the The Great Gatsby cover, since everyone had to read that in school.
