I saw this quotation for the first time a few years ago, and it was directly attributed to Oscar Wilde. I thought it was interesting and inspiring. Needless to say, I was disappointed when I recently read Dorian Gray for the first time and realized that the quote isn’t properly attributed to Mr. Wilde, but to a character that—at least at the time he said these words—was an idiot and an asshole.
